The allover aim of an interview is to make a favorable impression with the people you are facing. But do not forget that it is also your opportunity to check out whether the position and work environment is the right one for you. An interview is always a learn opportunity for you, not matter what the outcome is. In any case if you get to the interview stage for a job you applied for, it is important that you are prepared. Do put some work and time in beforehand to find out about the company you are applying for. Also consider the obvious things like for example how to dress appropriately (do dress neat, tidy and clean - in an appropriate business manner).

In general the interview will cover the following points:

1. Why are you here / Why have you applied for this position and what can you give us? (This question will aim to find out what your skills and fields of knowledge are to see if your experience fits the job)

2. What kind of person are you? (Obviously it is important to the company that you will easily fit in with the company culture and work environment.)

3. Tell us about work experience in your field. (Again, be prepared. Think about several examples before you go to the interview, what was good, what was challenging, if you can take samples of your work with you.)

4. Tell us about a work relationship / work problem you encountered in the past and how you dealt with it. (This question aims to find out how you deal with pressure and stress and situations where something might go wrong. It is not an easy question. Think about situations in your past working experience where you encountered difficulties, but the outcome was still positive.)

The most important thing in an interview is to be yourself, be honest and come prepared!

Your remuneration will most likely only be discussed at a later stage of the selection process, but of course interviews vary from employer to employer. Be prepared in terms of the simple things, know what your CV says if you are asked about certain sections of it. Don't forget that questions can be both open and closed therefore it is important that you listen carefully and don't be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat a question.

Further through the interview you should also be allowed some time to ask questions about the company. Take this opportunity to ensure your knowledge but especially interest for the company is put across. At the end of the interview the interviewer should explain to you the next step of the company's selection process. It is also highly likely he will check your references after you left (so make sure the contact details are up to date).

When the interview is over there is only one more thing for you to consider. Out of courtesy write a little "thank you" note to your interviewer. This is not only polite but will also help to remind him of you - and every little bit can help.
